Abstract
Izravne strane investicije su kroz posljednjih četvrt stoljeća preoblikovale globalnu ekonomsku sliku, posebice gospodarstva tranzicijskih zemalja, no njihovi učinci su se razlikovali ovisno o obilježjima zemlje primatelja i o vrsti stranih ulaganja. Postoje brojni dokazi da upravo takve investicije djeluju korisno i kod zemalja primateljica investicije i kod stranih investitora. U tom smislu najvažniji su takozvani učinci prelijevanja koji se odnose na tehnologiju, kapital, nove proizvode, znanja, tržišta, itd., te kao takvi mogu pospješiti gospodarski rast. No, uz svaku prednost, uvijek može doći i do određenih nedostataka. Porast stranih ulaganja dovodi do sve veće izmjene strukture vlasništva i uprava, dok istovremeno postoji opasnost od neadekvatnog usmjeravanja kapitala. Svrha ovog rada je istražiti učinke inozemnih izravnih stranih ulaganja na gospodarstvo neke zemlje, te do kojeg razmjera bi ih se uistinu trebalo poticati.
Abstract (english)
Foreign direct investments over the last quarter of century have transformed the global economic landscape, especially economies of transition countries, but their effects differed depending on the characteristics of the country recipient and on the kind of foreign investment. There are various evidences which prove that such investments are useful both for the host countries and for the foreign investors. In that sense, the most important ones are so-called spillover effects relating to technology, capital, new products, knowledge, markets, etc., which can boost economic growth. But with every advantage, some certain disadvantages may always arrise. Increase in foreign investments leads to greater change in the structure of ownership and management, while at the same time there is a risk of improper routing of capital. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of foreign direct investments on host country, and to what extent they should actually be encouraged.
