Abstract
U završnom radu promatra se gospodarski položaj Republike Hrvatske unutar Europske unije. Europska unija predstavlja jednog od najbitnijih političkih i gospodarskih aktera na međunarodnom parketu. Republika Hrvatska punopravna je članica Europske unije od 1. srpnja 2013. godine. Analiza gospodarskog položaja Republike Hrvatske vrši se na osnovu šest odabranih glavnih makroekonomskih varijabli: bruto domaći proizvod, stopa nezaposlenosti, stopa inflacije, kamatna stopa, javni dug i bilanca plaćanja. Promatrano razdoblje proteže se od 2008. do 2018. odnosno 2019. godine (prema raspoloživosti podataka). Vrijednosti odabranih makroekonomskih pokazatelja Republike Hrvatske uspoređuju se sa tri skupine zemalja – prvu skupinu predstavljaju sve članice Europske unije (28 država članica sa Ujedinjenim Kraljevstvom, odnosno 27 država članica bez UK ako nisu raspoloživi podaci za EU-28), drugu skupinu predstavljaju države članice europodručja budući da je Republika Hrvatska ozbiljan kandidat za uvođenje zajedničke valute eura, te treću skupinu predstavljaju zemlje srednje i istočne Europe koje su po svom povijesnom i gospodarskom razvoju najbliže Republici Hrvatskoj te je stoga usporedba upravo s njima najsmislenija. Promatrano razdoblje najjače su obilježile posljedice financijske krize koja je 2008. godine izbila u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama te se potom proširila i na Europu. Zaključak o gospodarskom položaju Republike Hrvatske unutar Europske unije nije jednoznačan zato što Republika Hrvatska ne ostvaruje jednake rezultate na svim promatranim područjima. Općenito promatrano, Republika Hrvatska na većini područja prati trendove Europske unije te se približava prosječnim vrijednostima na razini Europske unije i europodručja. Unutar skupine zemalja srednje i istočne Europe Republika Hrvatska u promatranom razdoblju za većinu pokazatelja održala je istu poziciju, dok je samo u rjeđim slučajevima došlo do poboljšanja ili pogoršanja.
Abstract (english)
The undergraduate final paper analyses the economic position of the Republic of Croatia in the European Union. The European Union is one of the most important political and economic actors on the international scene. The Republic of Croatia has been a full member of the EU since the 1st of July 2013. The evaluation of the economic position of the Republic of Croatia is based on selected core macroeconomic variables: gross domestic product, unemployment rate, inflation rate, interest rate, government debt and balance of payments. The period considered covers the years from 2008 to 2019 (or 2018 where data for 2019 is not yet available). The values of the chosen macroeconomic variables for the Republic of Croatia are compared with three (sub)groups: the first one is the EU with all its member states (28 member states with the United Kingdom included, or 27 member stated without the UK where data for EU-28 is not available), the second group is the Eurozone as Croatia is a serious candidate for the introduction of the common currency euro, and the third one is group of the Central and Eastern European countries whose historic and economic development resembles the Croatian one the most which is why the comparison of Croatia with these countries is at the same time also the most relevant one. The analysed time period was heavily marked by the consequences of the financial crisis which erupted in 2008 in the United States of America and then spread to Europe. The conclusion about the economic position of the Republic of Croatia in the European Union is not univocal as the Republic of Croatia does not achieve the same results in all inspected areas. In general, the Republic of Croatia follows the trends of the European Union, and it approaches the average EU and eurozone values in most of the areas. Regarding the position of the Republic of Croatia in the group of Central and Eastern European countries during the analysed time period, Croatia has kept its relative position for most variables while improvements and deteriorations have been rarer.
