Abstract
Ovaj diplomski rad bavi se temom geopolitičkog aspekta rata u Siriji, gdje se posebno istražuje pozadina i djelovanje prosvjeda koji se kasnije pretvorio u rat u kojem sudjeluju mnoge svjetske sile i regionalne zemlje. Temeljnim istraživanjem i analiziranjem brojne znanstvene literature, dokumenata i novinskih napisa dokazalo se kako u Siriji se ne radi o građanskom ratu nego o međunarodnom sukobu. Također ustanovljeno je da prosvjedi koji su eskalirali u rat vrlo brzo su poprimili sektašku narav te su bili vođeni radikalnom interpretacijom Islama.
Abstract (english)
This graduate thesis deals with the topic of the geopolitical aspect of the war in Syria, where it specifically explores the background and effects of the protest that later turned into a war involving many world powers and regional countries. By thoroughly researching and analyzing numerous of scientific literature, documents and newspaper articles have proven that Syria is not into a civil war but there is an international conflict. It was also conceded that the protests that escalated into war very quickly took on a sectarian nature and were guided by a radical interpretation of Islam.
