Postoje različiti oblici participativnog rukovođenja, no svima je zajedničko uvažavanje prijedloga i mišljenja podređenih i njihova uključenost u postizanje organizacijskih ciljeva.
Abstract (english) The job of a manager is hectic, messy and reactive, and planning is casual. Their behavior is influenced by the level of management, size of the organization, crisis conditions and phases in the life of the organization, and the work of managers is variable due to globalization, employee diversity, technological change, etc. Although faced with numerous requirements and restrictions, managers have a choice in allocating their time to different activities and different people. The job of a manager comes down to creating and maintaining relationships, obtaining and providing informations, influencing people, and making decisions.
Early contingency theories prescribe different types of managerial behavior in different situations. Managers seek to understand the demands and pressures that determine which course of action will be successful, study the situation, and try to adjust their behavior to it.
Participatory leadership involves others in decision-making, and this is crucial for the organization's decision to be accepted and implemented. There are different forms of participatory leadership, but all have in common the respect for the suggestions and opinions of subordinates and their involvement in achieving organizational goals. But participation doesn’t have to be effective if subordinates don’t share the goals of the manager, if they don’t want to take responsibility in decision-making, or if they don’t trust
the manager. Delegation of work to subordinates has been shown to be effective when is implemented in a competent manner.
Two extremes such as autocratic and democratic leadership style can be used in the same organization, but it is important that the leader recognizes the styles and knows which situation suits which leadership style.
