Abstract Hotelsko poduzeće egzistira u okolini koja je nepredvidiva i nestabilna te zahtjeva svakodnevno prilagođavanje. Covid pandemija je najbolji primjer kako jedan iznenadan događaj može značajno utjecati na hotelijerstvo, ali i ostaviti trajne posljedice. Kako bi se upravo navedene posljedice smanjile, a proizašli problemi iz iste eliminirali, potreban je strateški menadžment. Strateški menadžment je taj koji kroz strateški proces detaljno analizira okolinu kako bi utvrdili snage i slabosti organizacije, kao i prilike i prijetnje koje okolina donosi. Razlog njihova utvrđivanja može uvelike pomoći organizaciji u pripremi i prilagodbi istima. Strateški menadžeri ujedno kreiraju viziju, misiju i ciljeve poduzeća, a sve to kako bi došli do najefikasnije strategiju kroz čiju će implementaciju ostvariti zacrtane ciljeve poduzeća. Sve navedene aktivnosti menadžeri kontroliraju i evaluiraju kako bi mogli pravovremeno reagirati i na koncu osigurati uspješno poslovanje hotelskog poduzeća. Navedene faze strateškog menadžmenta izvršavaju određeni organi menadžmenta, a posebna važnost pridaje se upravo strateškom vodstvu kao bitnom preduvjetu uspješnog poslovanja hotelskog poduzeća. Kako bi stvorili učinkovito vodstvo strateški menadžeri provode niz aktivnosti. Razvoj ljudskih resursa, oblikovanje organizacijske kulture i motivacija djelatnika samo su neki od njihovih svakodnevnih zadataka, dok se posebni naglasak stavlja na zadatak strateškog odlučivanja. Strateške odluke su te koje određuju sadašnjost, ali i budućnost organizacije.
Integritet, odlučnost i uravnoteženost su samo neke od odlika menadžera koje im pomažu na njihovom putu prema uspjehu i zadovoljenju ciljeva organizacije. Međutim, osim odlika, strateški menadžeri moraju posjedovati mnoštvo menadžerskih vještina ako se žele pokazati kao vodeći u svojoj djelatnosti. Osnovne menadžerske vještine su one vještine koje se zahtijevaju od svakog menadžera te koje on mora kontinuirano razvijati i unaprjeđivati kako bi djelotvorno upravljao organizacijom. Posebne menadžerske aktivnosti su usko vezane za provođenje menadžerskih funkcija te se upravo na taj način razvijaju i oblikuju. Menadžerske vještine koje strateški menadžeri primjenjuju su ključni element postizanja konkurentske prednosti, opstanka te uspješnog poslovanja hotelskih poduzeća te kao takve moraju biti tumačene.
Abstract (english) The hotel company exists in an environment that is unpredictable and unstable and requires daily adjustment. The Covid pandemic is the best example of how a sudden event can significantly affect the hotel industry, and also leave lasting consequences. In order to reduce these consequences and eliminate the resulting problems, strategic management is needed. Strategic management is the one that, through a strategic process, analyzes the environment in detail in order to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the organization, as well as the opportunities and threats that the environment brings. The reason for their identification can greatly help the organization in preparing and adapting to them. Strategic managers also create the vision, mission and goals of the company, all in order to reach the most effective strategy through the implementation of which they will achieve the set goals of the company. All these activities are controlled and evaluated by managers so that they can react in a timely manner and ultimately ensure the successful operation of the hotel business. These phases of strategic management are performed by certain management bodies, and special importance is given to strategic leadership as an essential prerequisite for the successful operation of a hotel company. In order to create effective leadership, strategic managers carry out a series of activities. Human resource development, shaping organizational culture and motivating employees are just some of their daily tasks, while special emphasis is placed on the task of strategic decision-making. Strategic decisions are what determine the present, but also the future of the organization.
Integrity, determination and balance are just some of the qualities of managers that help them on their path to success and meeting the goals of the organization. However, in addition to qualities, strategic managers must possess a multitude of managerial skills if they are to prove themselves as leaders in their field. Basic managerial skills are those skills that are required of every manager and which he must continuously develop and improve in order to effectively manage the organization. Special managerial activities are closely related to the implementation of managerial functions, and in this way they are developed and shaped. The managerial skills applied by strategic managers are a key element in achieving competitive advantages, survival and successful operation of hotel companies and must be interpreted as such.
