Abstract
Rad je prikaz nabave žitaricama u određenim razdobljima Dubrovačke Republike. Zbog manjka plodnog tla dubrovačke vlasti su bile prisiljene organizirati snabdijevanje svog stanovništva ovom dragocjenom namirnicom. Način na koji su se dubrovačke vlasti snalazile u okolnostima manjka dostupnih žitarica dobrim dijelom leži i u uspješnim diplomatskim vještinama. Sam sistem trgovine žitom nije bio kompliciran, svodio se na to da se žito prenosi s područja dobre žetve u ono područje gdje žito nedostaje. S obzirom na to da je riječ o namirnici koja ako nije pravilno uskladištena ne može dugo trajati Republika je odlučila izraditi gradsku žitnicu koja je udvostručila dotadašnji kapacitet pohrane žitarica.
Abstract (english)
This work is a presentation of grain procurement in certain periods of the Republic of Dubrovnik. Due to the less fertile soil, the Dubrovnik authorities were forced to organize the supply of their population with this precious food. The manner in which the Dubrovnik authorities coped with the circumstances of the lack of available grains lies to the large extent in their successful diplomatic skills. The grain trade system itself was not complicated, it was reduced to the fact that grain is transferred from the area of good harvest to the area where grain is lacking. Given that it is a matter of food which cannot last long if it is not properly stored, the Republic decided to build a city granary that doubled the previous grain storage capacity.
