Abstract Mrežni marketing je vrlo specifična pojava koja se temelji na prodaji uz pomoć posrednika. Vrlo učestalo se u javnosti percipira kao negativna pojava, a što je dijelom moguće povezati i s činjenicom kako su kroz povijest identificirana neželjena ponašanja pojedinih proizvođača te zlouporabe mrežnog marketinga. U praksi je moguće identificirati veći broj prednosti i nedostataka mrežnog marketinga, a kao primarna prednost se ističe mogućnost pristupa većem broju osoba, a ujedno ne postoje fiksni troškovi poslovanja koji opterećuju poslovanje većeg broja poduzeća. Iako mrežni marketing omogućava pojedincima ostvarivanje natprosječnog dohotka, ovaj oblik dohotka je ipak vrlo ograničen zbog rizika od vrlo brzog zasićenja tržišta. Ujedno, budući da se mrežnim marketingom najčešće bave amateri, a ne profesionalci s iskustvom u prodaji, postoji izražen rizik od neuspjeha.
U teorijskom dijelu ovog rada prikazane su temeljne odrednice mrežnog
marketinga, dok je poseban naglasak stavljen na prikaz prednosti i nedostataka istog. U empirijskom dijelu rada prikazani su rezultati anketnog istraživanja koje je provedeno s ciljem utvrđivanja upoznatosti studenata s područja grada Dubrovnika s pojmom mrežnog marketinga. Manje od 42% ispitanika upoznato je s pojmom mrežnog marketinga, a iako on nudi potencijal ostvarivanja više razine dohotka, ispitanici preferiraju stabilniji, iako niži dohodak. Činjenica kako su ispitanici na veći broj pitanja odgovorili sa nisam siguran/a sugerira na to da ispitanici nisu dovoljno upoznati s pojmom mrežnog marketinga, a što ukazuje na potrebnu dodatne edukacije o specifičnostima ovog pojma.
Abstract (english) Network marketing is a very specific phenomenon based on sales with the help of intermediaries. It is very often perceived by the public as a negative phenomenon, which can partly be connected with the fact that throughout history, unwanted behavior of individual producers and misuse of online marketing have been identified. In practice, it is possible to identify a number of advantages and disadvantages of network marketing, and the primary advantage is the possibility of access to a larger number of people, and at the same time there are no fixed business costs that burden the operations of a larger number of companies.
Although network marketing enables individuals to earn above-average income, this form of income is still very limited due to the risk of very fast saturation of the II market. At the same time, since network marketing is most often done by amateurs, and not professionals with sales experience, there is a significant risk of failure.
In the theoretical part of this paper, the fundamental determinants of network marketing are presented, while special emphasis is placed on the presentation of its advantages and disadvantages. The empirical part of the paper presents the results of a survey conducted with the aim of determining the familiarity of students from the area of the city of Dubrovnik with the concept of network marketing. Less than 42% of respondents are familiar with the concept of network marketing, and although it offers the potential to achieve a higher level of income, respondents prefer a more stable, albeit lower, income. The fact that the respondents answered a greater number of questions with "I'm not sure" suggests that the respondents are not sufficiently familiar with the concept of network marketing, which indicates the need for additional education on the specifics of this concept.
