Abstract
This paper describes the development of containerization from the beginning to the present. Constructional characteristics of container ships are described in detail; structure, design, ships strength and construction safety. This paper also describes: stability of container ships, requirements of classification societies for stability of container ships and stability of container ships in real conditions.
