Parallel abstract (English) | Lukrecija Bogašinović was a poet who lived in Dubrovnik in the 18th century. Her poetic legacy completes the picture about the role of women and cultural life in the mentianed period of Dubrovnik surrounding. During this period, the woman gradually moved towards self realization and alteration of the traditional role as a wife or as a mother. They made steps towards expressing their personality, better role in the society, and they were also a more active part of the literary creation. Dubrovnik cultural opportunities followed those in Europe, but kept tradition, which is shown in the small circle of women that were writing religious literature. In Dubrovnik, it was important to have a theater where women came to express themselves. They followed new French ideas, but remaind faithfull to their religiousness. This can also be seen in the poetry of Lukrecija Bogašinović that was created according to biblical templates. The author brought characters into her poems who simulated, mostly female readers, towards piety and devotion to God, mostly using numerous moral messages. Biblical text served as a template for the author, to show the everyday life of those times. But, the characters were not only religious, they were shown in family ambiance, which brought them closer to the readers. If we add that Bogašinović wrote in slovinian, intelligible to a wider audience, it becames clear why her work was still read and prescribed almost a hundred years after its creation. Introducing emotions to her characters, she brought them closer to the readers and made a detachment from the biblical text. Literary creation of Lukrecija Bogašinović made an impact on the cultural opportunities of the 18th century Dubrovnik. |
