Abstract
Analiza demografskih pokazatelja prirodnog kretanja stanovništva, provedena na temelju matičnih knjiga, pokazala je da se župa Gruž u razdoblju 1870.-1880. godine nalazila u ranoj podetapi procesa demografske tranzicije. Demografska obilježja koja sugeriraju takav zaključak su: porast broja stanovnika, smanjenje stope mortaliteta, prirodni prirast, produljenje životnog vijeka, pad mortaliteta dojenačkoga i dječjeg kontingenta te visoka ženidbena dob. Kao specifičnosti župe Gruž izdvajaju se: proljetni maksimum i ljetni minimum začeća te vrlo mali udio predbračno začete i izvanbračne djece u odnosu na druge dubrovačke župe u 19. stoljeću.
Abstract (english)
The analysis of demographic indicators of natural population change, conducted on the basis of registy books, showed that the parish of Gruž in the period 1870-1880 was in the early sub-stage of the process of demographic transition. Demographic characteristics that suggest such a conclusion are: population growth, declining mortality rate, natural increase, life expectancy, declining infant and child mortality, and high marriage age. The specifics of the parish of Gruž are: spring maximum and summer minimum conception and a very small share of premartial and illegitimate children in relation to other Dubrovnik parishes in the 19th century.
