Abstract Rad sagledava povijesni razvoj i proizvodnju razglednica od vremena njihova pojavljivanja u društvu koncem 19. stoljeća do danas.
Abstract (english) The paper examines the historical development and production of postcards from the time of their appearance in society in the late 19th century to the present day. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, the paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter provides an overview of the historical origin of postcards, the second chapter on the history of development and production provides an overview of different periods ('golden age', white-line period, the emergence of textile and photochromatic postcards), while the third chapter looks at production technologies have alternated during their historical period (stone printing, light printing, photographic halftone reproduction, combined procedures, photochromic techniques). The fourth chapter is devoted to the standards of postcards, and the fifth discusses their heritage value in modern society. The sixth chapter provides an overview of conservation and restoration works on postcards from the holdings of the Dubrovnik Museums with the necessary documentary and photographic contributions to the works.
The aim of this thesis was to point out the historical process and circumstances of postcards, their change in appearance and use as well as today's value as an artistic and historical source for interdisciplinary research. The research was conducted with the use of relevant literature, and the museum template was used in the practical part of the conservation and restoration work, which sought to exemplify the knowledge acquired during the studies. The perception of postcards as historical artifacts and sources that with their content (art, writing, format, phraseology, communication...) can serve researchers of many humanities disciplines, proved to be justified because postcards are still a value and a challenge for collectors and museum collections.
