Abstract
Staro željezo ili metalni otpad danas je globalna roba kojom se, a zbog potrebe industrije recikliranja metala, trguje u cijelom svijetu. Najekonomičniji način transporta navedene robe je morskim putem, a zbog niže cijene pomorskog transporta u odnosu na druge vrste transporta, te zbog velike nosivosti brodova i mogućnosti transporta velikih količina robe. Staro željezo ili metalni otpad se prevozi u rasutom stanju brodovima za prijevoz rasutog tereta, ali i u kontejnerima. Za manipulaciju prilikom utovara i istovara koriste se različita manipulativna sredstva, najčešće grabilice. Željezni otpad može biti opasan teret ako se posada broda ne pridržava mjera sigurnosti prilikom rukovanja i prijevoza tereta. U radu su opisane vrste željeznog otpada i rizici njegovog prijevoza, te su navedene preporuke za siguran i učinkovit prijevoz.
Abstract (english)
Scrap iron or scrap metal is today a global commodity that is traded worldwide due to the needs of the metal recycling industry. The most economical way of transporting these goods is by sea, due to the lower cost of maritime transport compared to other modes of transport, and due to the high carrying capacity of vessels and their ability to transport large quantities of goods. Scrap iron or scrap metal is transported in bulk by bulk carriers, but also in containers. Various cargo handling equipment is used during loading and unloading operations, mostly grabs. Scrap iron can be a dangerous cargo if the ship's crew does not adhere to safety measures when handling and transporting the cargo. The thesis describes the types of scrap iron, the risks of its transport and provides recommendations for safe and efficient transport.
