Abstract Iako je kvaliteta čovjeku poznata i s njom se susreće od davnina, povećan interes za nju i njezino detaljnije proučavanje javlja se pojavom masovne proizvodnje. Usporedno s razvojem znanosti i tehnologije razvija se i potreba poduzeća za postizanjem što veće razine kvalitete, a samim time i ostvarenja konkurentske prednosti. Kaizen je sustav kontinuiranog i postupnog poboljšanja: kvalitete, tehnologije, procesa, kulture i proizvodnosti organizacije. Nastao je u Japanu nakon Drugog svjetskog rata, a naziv dolazi od riječi kai što znači promjena i riječi zen što znači boljitak. Kaizen označava filozofiju života i rada koja donosi kontinuirana, inkrementalna i svakodnevna poboljšanja. To je način upravljanja poduzećem usmjeren napredovanju, a isto se može primijeniti i na druge aspekte života pojedinca. Niti jedan dan ne bi trebao proći bez nekog unaprjeđenja, a kada je napredak ostvaren, potrebno ga je standardizirati i tragati za novim. Važnost japanske proizvodne filozofije je značajna jer se zasniva na jasnim kriterijima povezanih procesa bez zastoja, skladišta koja ne opterećuju zalihe, sa stalnom racionalizacijom procesa, stalnih unaprjeđenja i razvoja u svim segmentima rada. Zbog navedenog, Kaizen koncept kontinuiranog unaprjeđenja poslovnih procesa je danas u svjetskoj poslovnoj praksi jedan od najznačajnijih koncepata operacijskog i logističkog menadžmenta, a razlog tome je konstantna potreba za rezanjem i eliminiranjem svih nepotrebnih troškova. Najvažnije u cijeloj koncepciji je nastojanje da Kaizen i njegovi principi prijeđu u naviku svakom zaposleniku te da se i nakon uspješne primjene i vidljivih prvih rezultata nastavi s njegovom primjenom jer dobro nikad nije dovoljno dobro, a mjesta za poboljšanja uvijek ima.
Abstract (english) Although quality is known to man and has been with it since ancient times, the interest in her has increased, and her more detailed study is due to the emergence of mass production. Along with the development of science and technology, the needs of the
company are being developed to achieve the highest level of quality and thus the achievement of competitive advantage. Kaizen is a system of continuous and gradual improvement: the quality, technology, process, culture and productivity of the organization. It came to Japan after the Second World War, and the name comes from the word kai meaning change and the word zen means goodbye. Kaizen marks the philosophy of life and work that brings continuous, incremental and everyday improvements. It is a way of managing a company focused on advancement, and it can also be applied to other aspects of an individual's life. One day should not go without improvement, and when progress has been made, it is necessary to standardize it and look for a new one. The importance of Japanese manufacturing philosophy is significant because it is based on clear criteria of related unbridled processes, warehouses that do not burden stocks, with constant rationalization of the process, constant improvement and development in all segments of work. Because of this, Kaizen's concept of continuous improvement of business processes is one of the most important concepts of operational and logistic management today in world business practice, and this is the constant need for cutting and eliminating all unnecessary costs.
