The quality of health care is influenced by a number of factors, among which ones models of work organizationare very important. Models of work organization provide nurses to implement effective and quality health care. They can be different and which of them will be applied, depends on the number of nurses in the health institution, their qualification structure, job complexity, economic and social conditions in society and the level of development of the health system in a country. Therefore, it is important to choose the model that is realistically possible to apply, and which will be able to meet the needs of patients for the health care. Each of the existing models has its advantages and disadvantages. Because of that, a good assessment of the applicability each of them can result in a better quality of the health care. Choosing the best model of organization of nurses' work is one of the most important factors in developing and nurturing safety of the patient. In this paper, using the literature, the models of organization of nurses' work and their advantages and disadvantages are described. Furthermore, the organization of nursing care in some other countries in European Union is also described. Models of organization provide the insight of resposibilities and decision making, but also into how tasks are assigned. Goals of models of organizationrefer to ensuring safe and most effective care. Quality basically means the satisfaction of patients which is provided by the health care and the satisfaction of nurses with the organizational structure and working conditions.
