Postpartum period or childbed is the period that lasts six weeks after childbirth. That time is necessary for removing all the changes that appeared during pregnancy. Health care of the woman in postpartum period starts by completion of the fourth stage of labour, and lasts up to next 40 days. The nurses main tasks in postpartum period is to control and track all the physiological happenings of the woman and newborn child, so as satisfying all the educational and supportive needs of the woman and whole family according to newborn baby. Community- health care continues on starting health care in maternity ward and has a great importance for health and wellbeing of the mother and the baby. In provision in this category of users it is especially important for health care to be continous and timely, which means that the first visit has to be done as soon as possible after coming home from the maternity ward, because that is the time when mother, newborn child, and also the whole family needs help the most. Continuity of the care during the next visits provides timely help and support for the mother, also providing her the best way to solve existing problems and manage the greatest level of wellbeing for herself and her newborn baby. Nurses health care in postpartum period starts with assessment and continues by planning and implementation of the measures for promotion and protection of health. In this thesis I will process the womans health care in the most sensitive time in her life- postpartum period, in which, among all the physiological changes, also happen the great psychological changes and adaptation on the most beautiful time in her life- maternity. Also, I will indicate on importance of the nurse during the whole postpartum period. She, within education, completes health care of the mother and newborn child, and provides adaptation to motherhood.
