Objectives and Methods: The study included patients admitted to the Department of Neurology, Dubrovnik General Hospital who were diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020. This is a retrospective study and the data were collected from the Department of Neurology, Dubrovnik General Hospital. Results: The study included 65 patients. The majority of them were man, but it was statistically non-significant. The mean age of all patients was 51.8 years. Intervertebral disc disease was more common in men; however, it was statistically non-significant. The majority of patients were within the 41-50 years of age group. On average, all patients had increased body mass. Men were classified as obese, and women as overweight. Only 13.8% of patients had a medical history of trauma, 45% had diabetes, and 48% were smokers. There were four patients with bulging disc, 31 patients with disc protrusion, and 30 patients with prolapsed disc. 57% of hospitalized patients had indications for surgical treatment. Conclusion: Out of the total number of all patients admitted to the Department of Neurology, Dubrovnik General Hospital over the three-year period, 3.8% were diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease. Since the disease can be long-lasting and significantly reduce the functional capacity as well as the quality of life, it is necessary to implement additional prevention measures, both in the workplace and in private life
